About the Committee
Kazakhstan Deaflympic Team — this is a public organization that represents and promotes sports among people with hearing impairments, advancing the ideas of inclusion, equality, and national unity through athletic achievements.
Objectives of the Committee

• Leadership and management – building a transparent and effective management system for Deaflympic sports in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

• Mass involvement – increasing the participation of children, youth, and women with hearing impairments in sports programs and competitions.

• High–performance sports - preparation of national teams for the Deaflympic Games and international tournaments, achieving stable medal results.

• Infrastructure and personnel – development of regional clubs, specialized bases, training of coaches and referees with sign language skills.

• International cooperation – active participation in ICSD activities, bilateral agreements with foreign Deaflympic committees, exchange of experience and internships.

• Communication and image – increasing the awareness of the Deaflympic movement in Kazakhstan, forming a positive attitude of society towards athletes with hearing impairment.

• Financial sustainability – diversification of sources of financing: government support, sponsors, grant and charitable programs.

The Committee's mission

The National Deaflympic Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan ensures equal opportunities for athletes with hearing impairment, develops mass and professional sports, forms national pride and strengthens the image of Kazakhstan on the world stage of the Deaflympic movement.

Our achievements
1997 year
Since the first participation in the Deaflympic Games in 1997, Kazakhstani athletes have won
8 gold, 8 silver and 26 bronze medals at five summer and three winter Deaflympics
2022 year
The year 2022 became especially bright: at the XXIV Summer Deaflympics in Brazil, the national team of Kazakhstan achieved a historic result. —
4 gold, 7 silver and 18 bronze medals, ranking 13th among 73 countries
2024 year
For the first time, Kazakhstan hosted the World Championships in Deaflympic sports — judo (in Turkestan) and futsal (in Astana). Kazakhstani athletes won 5 gold, 6 silver and 4 bronze medals at these competitions, and the futsal team won silver.
History and development
1992 year
The development of sign language sports in Kazakhstan began in 1992 with the establishment of the Sports Association of the Deaf, which laid the foundation for further growth
1996 year
Since then, Kazakhstani athletes have confidently asserted themselves in the international arena, from the first medals at the Asia—Pacific Games in 1996 to participation in the XVIII Deaflympic Games in Copenhagen (1997), where Kazakhstan first appeared as an independent state
2021 year
In 2021, the National Deaflympic Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan was established, which combined the efforts of federations, coaches and athletes to bring deafsports to a new level of development
2025 year
There are currently active and accredited federations in surdo judo, taekwondo, chess, football and futsal in Kazakhstan. The athletics and wrestling federations are under registration. Thanks to this, more than a thousand athletes with hearing impairment systematically engage in sports, participating in national and international competitions
