Tokyo 2025 Deaflympics Medals: “Spreading Our Wings”

This year, the symbol of victory received a special design chosen by Japanese schoolchildren themselves. The winning design was “Spreading Our Wings,” which received over 40,000 votes.

The main element is an origami crane, a symbol of hope, freedom, and flying to new heights. It is surrounded by traditional Japanese patterns, which have long been considered auspicious.

The intertwining lines symbolize the connection between people around the world and unity through sport.

The medal is suspended on an Indigo Iron ribbon—a deep dark blue with a green tint, popular since the Edo period. It is decorated with two classic Japanese patterns, adding sophistication and national flavor to the award.
